This Privacy Policy explains how HeyItsMe collects and uses information when you use the service. It applies to your account, profile, and use of HeyItsMe's public profile and portfolio features.
Information you provide
We collect the information you choose to provide when you create or update an account or profile. This can include your name, email address, username, display name, profession, headline, bio, location, gender, profile details, skills, languages, links, and profession-specific information.
We also process the media and content you add, including avatar and cover images, portfolio images and videos, associated project details, and links to supported third-party embeds. If you contact us through the feedback form, we collect the information in that submission.
Authentication information
HeyItsMe offers passwordless email authentication using a sign-in link and a six-digit verification code. We use your email address to send those messages and operate the sign-in flow; we do not use account passwords for this method. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google processes the authentication request and we receive the identity information it makes available to us, such as your name, email address, Google account identifier, and profile image.
Public profiles
Information and media you intentionally publish on a public profile can be viewed without signing in, shared by others, and indexed by search engines. This may include your name, username, professional details, location, bio, links, and media displayed on your profile. You can make your profile private from profile settings. Media may be reviewed and its public visibility may be limited or removed under our moderation process.
Optional Instagram portfolio import
An authenticated HeyItsMe user may voluntarily connect a Professional Instagram account to browse and select their own media for import. We access the Instagram account ID, username, account type, media count, media metadata, and media URLs needed for browsing and an encrypted access token. Media you explicitly select for a portfolio is copied into HeyItsMe storage and can be removed through normal portfolio controls; disconnecting Instagram does not remove it. You can also select posts to create normal Instagram embeds using their post URLs. This integration does not request access to Instagram comments, messages, publishing, or insights.
Technical and operational information
We process technical information needed to run and secure the service. This may include IP address, browser or device information, request and error logs, session information, and timestamps. We use this information for authentication, security, abuse prevention, technical troubleshooting, and service operation.
How we use information
- Provide and maintain accounts, profiles, and media delivery.
- Authenticate users and send service-related sign-in emails.
- Display public profiles and their published content.
- Review media, prevent abuse, and protect the service and its users.
- Respond to feedback and troubleshoot technical issues.
Cookies and similar technology
HeyItsMe uses essential session cookies to keep you signed in and maintain the security and operation of the service. We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate use of the service.
Third parties
We use service providers as needed to operate HeyItsMe, such as infrastructure, storage, and email-delivery providers. Google provides optional sign-in. When you add supported YouTube or Instagram embeds, those services may collect information under their own policies when the embed loads. We do not control third-party services or their privacy practices.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and profile information for as long as needed to operate the service, meet our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you request deletion from profile settings, your account is deactivated immediately. You can reactivate it by signing in within 30 days; reactivation cancels the pending deletion. If you do not reactivate during that period, your account and associated data are permanently deleted after 30 days. We may retain information only where needed for legitimate operational or legal purposes.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International use and changes to this policy
HeyItsMe is intended for a global audience. By using the service, you understand that information may be processed in locations where HeyItsMe or its service providers operate. We may update this policy as the service changes and will post the revised version here with a new “Last updated” date.
